America's second drive to address climate protection
The US House of Representatives has presented a discussion draft on climate and energy policy. A decision is to be reached by year-end. The core of the new climate policy in the US will be the introduction of an emissions trading system. Greenhouse gas emissions are to be reduced by more than 80% by the middle of the century. Furthermore, the proposed legislation provides for greater incentives for renewable energies and low-carbon technologies than at present.
