Origin Energy Ltd said it would be a winner when emissions trading scheme is introduced in 2010 because it uses gas to generate electricity, which is cleaner than coal.
Australia's second largest energy retailer on Wednesday supported moves by Woodside Petroleum Ltd, urging the federal government to give free carbon trading permits to the liquified natural gas (LNG) sector.

CANBERRA, July 28 Asia Pulse - Australian Resources and Energy Minister Martin Ferguson says he will continue to meet the liquified natural gas (LNG) industry to ensure its concerns about emissions trading are resolved.
Oil and gas producer Woodside Petroleum (ASX:WPL) has said the government's model for a carbon emissions trading system - released in a green paper - threatens two LNG projects offshore from Western Australia.
