SNIPPET: One of the key advantages of the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme is it does enable that international linking - it enables us to be part of a global approach to this. But surely the aim of a scheme like the one you're developing - and what everyone thinks is the aim is that the polluters in this country, like polluters around the world, will hopefully stop polluting as much - our carbon emissions will decrease.

Just how far are you willing to go in terms of any compromise you might reach, in this period after the Green Paper? WONG: Well Kieran our focus obviously will be on the national interest. What is the best thing for Australia, what is the best way to tackle climate change that involves the lowest cost and that ensures that all of us make a fair contribution to the task of tackling climate change.
